Wi-Fi, which stands for wireless fidelity, in a play on the older term Hi-Fi, is a wireless networking technology used across the globe. Wi-Fi refers to any system that uses the 802.11 standard, which was developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and released in 1997. The term Wi-Fi, which is alternatively spelled WiFi, Wi-fi, Wifi, or wifi, was pushed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, a trade group that pioneered commercialization of the technology.

Bluetooth wireless technology is a wireless communications system intended to replace the cables connecting electronic devices. The key features of the technology are robustness, low power and low cost.
The Bluetooth Core System consists of an RF transceiver, baseband, and protocol stack. The system offers services that enable the connection of devices and the exchange of a variety of classes of data between these devices. Many features of the core specification are optional, allowing product differentiation.
Begining with v1.2 of the Core System, the Bluetooth Core Specification documents were trasnsferred to a partitioning. Each version of the Core Specification retains the functional characteristics of the previous version of the Bluetooth Core Specification.
The sections below describe the highlights of each version of the Bluetooth Specification. The most recent enhancement, Bluetooth v4.0, is like three specifications in one – Classic Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth low energy technology, and Bluetooth high speed technology – all which can be combined or used separately in different devices according to their functionality.

The key features of Bluetooth technology are robustness, low power, and low cost. The Bluetooth Specification defines a uniform structure for a wide range of devices to connect and communicate with each other.
The structure and the global acceptance of Bluetooth technology means any Bluetooth enabled device, almost everywhere in the world, can connect to other Bluetooth enabled devices located in proximity to one another.
Connections betweeen Bluetooth enabled electronic devices allow these devices to communicate wirelessly through short-range, ad hoc networks known as piconets. Piconets are established dynamically and automatically asBluetooth enabled devices enter and leave radio proximity meaning that you can easily connect whenever and wherever it's convenient for you.
Each device in a piconet can also simultaneously communicate with up to seven other devices within that single piconet and each device can also belong to several piconets simultaneously. This means the ways in which you can connect your Bluetooth devices is almost limitless.
